today I found out that my shootings are not maximum, and I learned that our (me and mika) story concept are not clear, and we should communicate each other to make a story
and I learn to take much position and various shooting also have to direct the subject
also have to make the interview scene and the subjeck connected so the audience can easily understand what the occupation of the subject.

we have an interview session at UNICEF with Child Protection coordinator mr Frederic. I learn about looking at the sky to find out the weather and the sun, so that we can make maximum lighting for the interview subject. And also if necessary use Reflector to make subject’s face more light.
at night, Dylan show us the film about masaleh, a woman who have to fetch water far away up in the mountain for her family, at the film I look and notice about the importance in natural sound, Dylan have a mini mike on masaleh dress, so that we can feel masaleh’s grasp of breath. Although I’m not a woman, I can feel I was a woman in that film,
masaleh is very hardworking woman, but the situation and her position in the family is not very good(or should I say..discriminative) she often say that and admit it, but she have to accept that difficult situation.
After I saw that film, I see that Dylan took a point that the main problem was. And after that focused at masaleh’s family and personal problem and after that he took subject that strong to take care of their problems not the weak subject, so the film is not about helping the people but more than that, the problem itself.
I realize that Da Ai TV have made change in human’s life. It tells a story about the difficult situation that we might not see at all. So that everybody that see it can lend a hand helping great love to spread all over the world, we are all responsible for it.
Also our way in working should be more creative and dynamic, so we can go beyond our limits of learning, and always full of responsible and hard working for what we do
Cause if we hope for more and more, that will be no satisfaction in our life.

today, we shoot at Unicef’s Children center, at that time I learned that if the situation get to crowdy, I should focus at 2 or 3 subject and what are they doing that time.
And after I and mika interviewed the teacher and the child parents, we miss one important things, tha child’s feeling. At that time, the teacher tells us that most of the child draw water with black color, that simbolize the child is not forget the tsunami, because the color of the tsunami water is black. So they (the teacher) have to do more things to make the child forget the disaster that struck their family.
And I have to cooperate more with mika, because today is my first day on the field with mika, and we’ll have to more communicative.
At night, Dylan told us to remember what we shoot, because all of the things might be use for us to make documentary film. So that we can compare the subject before and after, what the difference and what the progress. And I still have to learn to take pictures in a short time. And able to tell a stories in 2 minutes

today’s lesson is taking a film with comparation (before and after) , example, when we are shooting, we must pick one position that suitable and pick one building and come 3 or 6 month later, and then just shoot at the difference, and we can see the process.
And when we are coming to the new place without any clear order, we should remain calm and find our way out of the situation by ourselves.
Just do the best and always clearly find out the information from the coordinator, like goes to the place where the journalist are and find the information about the place.
Also find out why, what , where and how we want to send the news, by tape or send by satellite or FTP, also try to send it on time, because Taiwan Time is one hour faster than Indonesia.
And after that Dylan show us the movie called “live from Baghdad”, it’s a movie about CNN that covers Gulf war between America and Irak, and the coverage that makes CNN so famous until now
After watching the movie, I decided to wrote a conclusion myself that if we have to go to the place that we don’t know
we should :
1. clearly knows the situation, and always found out the information
2. choose partner to cooperate with u (man power) and team work
3. knowing the Map (to recognising the place more and imagine the place from above)
4. know where u live in that place also the person that can help u, if u don’t find one and the matter is language, pick up the local people to translate
and contact the ambassador to make them know you are there or just buy your traveller guide.
5. have enough fund in case of emergency
6. knowing and plan your equipment well
7. on time (always)
8. Focus, have passion and patience for the subject you want to interview with
9. use good word in script so that people understand, add a little literature terms in the script, and plan what you wanna ask
10. control your emotion and knowing what to do next if things getting worse.
11. always prepare everything (man, equipment, what to do, etc)
12. use a good communication and patience when negotiate, so you will get what you want
13. control the working flowchart so that u can be sure that your work is just as you want to.

today, after the shooting session at Jantho, Dylan make a good example of the meaning of symbolic framing, at dawn he take picture of refugees (muslim majority) framing, at the framing, he explained that we have to clear our mind before taking pictures, and always look for different point of view,
as example, I took the left side and taking pictures of the children praying, but when Dylan look at it, he said, what is the difference between muslim prayer in Banda Aceh, Meulaboh, and Jakarta? That is the same, but the difference is they pray at Tzu Chi Tent. And that explain that Tzu Chi don’t look at different religion and Tzu Chi is a Social Organization that have principles of love and compassion,
that explaination amazes me, because at that time, my point of view is just to make some good framing, but I don’t look deeply into it, that I have to make the framing more meaningful
at these few days, I learned about Concept, Clearing My mind and Shooting Dimention that connected with Tzu Chi.

today is the special day, because the refugee start to move in to Tzu Chi Tent in Jantho, I focused at the children life at the tent, how is they had to separate with their friend at the tent.
I’d follow a child name Meka, she is one of the refugee child, and as far as I see that she is smart and willing to learn. She also is a member of the Acehnese Dancing group.
When we arrive at Jantho, I got a chance to help refugee moving their belongings, first, I only see them carrying their bags and belongings, but I see one of the refugee, a mother carrying their belongings and seems so heavy, so I decide to help her after I finished my shootings.
When I helped them, I realize that my job is not only a job, but also helping others hand in hand, and by helping them I realize that I must also feel their feeling and share my joyfulness and tears with them.
The burden in their heart is more heavy than my heart.
At night, as a team we have a sharing between us, is not about the technical things but also more deep Tzu Chi Principles of love and compassion, it is important because when we are in Tzu Chi, we are not just working, but the important thing, we have to cultivate our heart.
