What a sunday

28 11 2005

Saturday was a tiring day for me, afternoon we go to press conference and got back at nite, as my tired body touch the bed, my sister rang my phone, she said that monday is her birthday, and i gotta get to her house ASAP, as my nephew wait for me to celebrate the her birthday.
i arrive to crowded Cong Li at 8.30 PM, as i stepped out the train station, i looked at the park and found out that the park are filling with candidates for ballot on December 3th, for legislative candidate i think,
as i wait, i draw an attention at one couples kissing each other outside the train station, darn.. make me jealous.. err.. i think i wouldnt find one like that in Jakarta, or.. maybe i dont know? hehe
my sister picked me up wit her car (fancy one) and we are going to Ping Jen, and i celebrates her birthday there. i sleep on 11 PM after calling someone in Indonesia.
as i get up in the morning, my sister’s father in law ask me to go lunch with him, he is former police dept head in there, but retired now, at first i just feel (weird) to go with him, because my sister would’nt go with me.
oh, what the hell, i’ll go anyway, we go to one place, he said that his ancestor (Family name : Cho) own the land and they have a family gathering in there, as i approach the land, i see one shrine and i read the written chinese character, i know that is Cho family ancestor shrine.
my sister’s father in law walking (i dont know his name, just called him Ching Kee ) to one place that crowded with many Cho family relatives, i see many table in there
as i dropped in, the first menu is coming, its fish, and one sauce on the other side, i picked up the fish and add it with the sauce… and.. darn its blowing out of my nose, its WASABI.. ooh man, i regret that i take the sauce too much ..
the menu is coming and coming again, i dont know that Taiwanese eat soo much, as i see the bread with prawn with it, i guess that is the last one, but.. i’m wrong, there’s 6 menu coming, including pork, chicken (2 big one), fish soup (2), cake. my stomach is full enough, and here i am, trying to get my breath.. as i gasped for air… a punishment for my gluttony. :P
this is the first experience to me, family gathering, all family of Cho’s coming, maybe have 4 generations as the oldest is 90 years old, well, i dont know whether i jakarta have this kind of family gathering or not.
as i drove back to the house, i see many car numbers and ad in it, also have one big fat man drumming some Chinese drum that usually used for playing chinese Barongsay.
i think its candidates campaign for the ballots, not like indonesians, they do it very tidy and neat, (thanks for “walking dictionary” hehe)
i think its very important to learn some “valuable lesson” from the democratic way in Taiwan, err, i mean.. not the legislative that always fight .. but the campaign that more symphatetic (according to me as a foreigner)
yes, sunday is my experience out of lousy work, see the new things, culture (yeah, i missed that, because i think more teenage chinese like me in jakarta begins lost their identity, somehow, but now, thanks to goverment not for not banning chinese culture anymore)
as i got my ass back to Taipei, my head filled with some plan for live news broadcast on monday..yeah.. human got to work anyway
oh yeah, just want to congrate my beloved sister… happy birthday!!

here today, gone tomorrow

25 11 2005

here i am, writing my training report at 1 AM, Taiwan time, and also writing this blog, hehe
have u been wake up in one place, and tomorrow u wake up at the other place?
might be confusing, eh? here i am, working and training at one of taiwan’s television station, for my future indeed, also the learning how they work in here,
life has been so busy in here, everywhere i see that everyone works so fast, never get enough of time, just work and work just like tomorrow is your last day.
Taiwan is one of my favourite place, beside Tibet (actually i dreamed that i can go there), Aceh, Bandung.. (jakarta??.. err as a hometown.. i think so)
the city is so beautiful, taipei is known as the city that appriciates art, and also cleanliness. i’ve heard my friend that when Mayor Ma Ying Jieo plays an important role in the city, Taipei grows so fast, and the law and order was restored very smoothly, it makes me jealous that Taipei had a good leader such as him, now Ma is one of Guo Min Dang party’s leader.
now, taipei is 20 degree, windy and cold indeed for an indonesian such as i am,
but taking some air outside is very challenging, using MRT (mass rapid transport) is very fun, we cannot smoke, cant eat or drink, but, we can smile, hehe, just 40 NT to Taipei main station from Guan Du. (1 NT = 300 rupiah, its about 30 minutes smooth journey to Taipei main station)
if u have the chance, come and visit Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan, build 101 floor, just like its name , and my fav place is page one bookstore inside, buy something inside? of course if u are rich enough to buy Giordano shirt for 1500 NT. hehe
and Dan Shui, the place just beside the shore, have night market and sell many things that hmmm delicious… and ehm2 pork meat.. hehe
we easily can see indonesians in here, whether they are working or studying. taipei is one of the finest city..
as i look at the beautiful scenery of Guan Du, i think to my self and looked back at the past, i really enjoy my life.. and u know what?
life has been good to me, life is indeed beautiful, and u never know where life has taken u to. here today, u might be gone tomorrow. to other place. beautiful place, the place u might never forgotten,
so friends, no matter what others trying to make u down, just get up. and realize that u never fall down, but u are flying high.
